The NEWEST, RADDEST kid on the 1st SW block; JOHNNY’S BARBER + SHOP
We are excited to share a project created in collaboration with the YYC salon group of ICONS [aka JOHNNY’S BARBER + SHOP / HEDKANDI SALON / BUTTER BEAUTY PARLOUR ]
This collective came with a specific list of needs in form, function + aesthetic in order to really deliver a new EXPERIENCE for their SEVENTH location; a lifestyle + apothecary concept shop. to name a few: light, accessibility, functional storage for their dream team of barbers, layered + textured warmth, a well articulated ‘edge’ + intention in every last corner.
We drew inspiration from the classics; think [Parisian apartment x New York warehouse] to create a space that feels FOUND + time-honoured, with a uniquely sexy EDGE. acid etched marble, art suspended from chain + un-lacquered metals meld with spice-hued woodwork, grey washed parquet floors, evocative hand-screened wallpapers + vintage Chanel inspired woven textiles created a rich foundation for the 1960’s re-furbished kokken barber chairs to really land their clients IN the experience.
Distinctly moody + deceivingly functional layered lighting sets the vibe for this fashion-forward yet functional space + invites you to sink in + stay awhile.
